Motherwell 1–1 Hearts | Scottish Premiership | Fir Park | 9 May 2026
Hearts came to Fir Park desperately needing a win to keep their Scottish Premiership title dream alive, but they had to settle for a point after a dramatic 1–1 draw against Motherwell.
The Jambos looked on course for three points when an own goal from Stephen Kingsley put them ahead on 25 minutes — the Motherwell defender turning the ball into his own net to gift Hearts an early lead.

But Motherwell fought back in the second half and eventually grabbed an equaliser to make it 1–1, leaving both sides to share the spoils at Fir Park.
The result is a blow for Hearts boss Derek McInnes, who had described the coming week as the biggest of his managerial career. Hearts had led the Scottish Premiership for most of the season and are still chasing their first title since 1960, which would make them the first non-Old Firm champions in over 40 years — but this dropped point makes the final stretch even tighter.
Celtic and Rangers face each other on Sunday, meaning the title race remains very much alive heading into the final weeks. STV News
